November 26, 2005 -- COMEDIAN Dennis Miller, absent from the airwaves since his CNBC show was cancelled earlier this year, is returning to the small screen.
The one-time "Saturday Night Live" regular and "Monday Night Football" commentator will host the 11th annual Critics' Choice Awards Monday, Jan. 9 on The WB.
The awards are given out by the Broadcast Film Critics Association.
"We couldn't be more thrilled to have Dennis Miller bring his uniquely witty style and presence as the host of the Critics' Choice Awards," said WB Entertainment chief David Janollari.
"He was at the top of our list, and we believe that his penchant for spontaneity will bring a new level of excitement to our show."
"Hosting the Critics' Choice Awards is both ironic and scary for the critics, don't you think?" said Miller.
The Broadcast Film Critics tout their awards as being good predictors of eventual Oscar nominees.
